Nanosat Launcher Challenge Seminar Videos

On November 6, 2010 Team Phoenicia and Techshop hosted a seminar on the Nanosat Launcher Challenge in Menlo Park, CA at Techshop - Menlo Park. We had a wonderful set of presenters from NASA, FAA, Unreasonable Rocket/Friends of Amateur Rocketry, Spaceport America, Pumpkin Inc, etc.

The intent was to drum up interest first and foremost in the SF Bay Area for the NLC. The second was to allow participants to see what was really involved in trying to put something into space (hint: there's a lot more paperwork than you would think for a license). It was also allow would-be participants to try to influence the draft rules since many teams have a lot of widely differing experiences with the challenges so far.

All in all, it was very well attended and considered a success. One of the greatest compliments paid was that one of the attendees stopped me in the hallway at Techshop at the end of the day by a gentleman that stated (paraphrased): "I flew all the way from North Carolina for this and it was worth every penny. Thank you."

We recorded with some difficulties the whole proceedings, all 6+ hours. Due to some technical difficulties, we were unable to post those videos until now. We are processing them out of their ... atypical ... format and placing them up online in the raw chunks that they were recorded. We had planned on editing them first, but we are so far behind at this point it struck us as better to get them online asap and edit them later.

We would like to invite the greater GLXP fan community to grace our youtube channel and check out the over 90 minutes of video that we have uploaded so far. The complete presentations by FAA's AST for the amateur rocketry rules by Marcus, information on Friend's of Amateur Rocketry's test site in the Mojave by Paul Breed and information on Spaceport America by Dr Bill Gutman are two that ought to paid attention to especially for those that wish to get into the NewSpace arena.

Since work being done by us for Nanosat Launcher Challenge teams is how we are planning on helping to fund our GLXP bid, this seemed appropriate and of interest of those here. Please enjoy.
