One more robot concepts I am working on. The concept is called RoRo. RoRo is a kind of Rhex robot, sitting on the top of a rocket. Actually the robot is the upper part of the rocket:

After the rocket has reached the peak altitude, the motor united separates and the parachute deploys:

Once soft landed, the robot navigates around via IR distance sensor, which is sitting on the top of the nose cone:


A prototype of RoRo has been built. Due to the Rhex configuration it is suitable for very rough terrain. The nose cone and motor link are made from balsa wood. The motors are two modified micro servos. The power supply is a common 9V battery. The CPU is a Picaxe 08M micro controller. The complete robot only weighs 100g.
