An Exciting Journey to the Moon

It has been a whirlwind nine or 10 months since Dynetics invited some very impressive organizations to join this group called the Rocket City Space Pioneers (RCSP) and entered the Google Lunar X PRIZE. Tim Pickens, Dynetics’ Chief Propulsion Engineer and Commercial Space Advisor, later to become the RCSP Team Leader, had mentioned to me that the company might get involved in this. He told me it was a big deal, but I had no idea!

It has been an exciting journey so far, and I’m very pleased to see that the media continues to be interested in us, as we get inquiries practically every week. We see more people mentioning us on Twitter and Facebook. We are getting more followers and fans.

This competition is giving the team members great branding opportunities and exposure we would not have otherwise. The Rocket City Space Pioneers are being covered by national and international media, as well as local and state.

We are excited about the upcoming Google Lunar X PRIZE Summit and the information that will be shared there, as well as the opportunities the different teams will have to network and share ideas.

We continue to make great progress on our lander and rover, and we’ve done exciting things with our educational partners.

We have added experienced team members with proven past performance to the already strong team we started with.

We are planning to announce new sponsors and team members soon, and we have some exciting projects in the works.

We are still hoping some of our competitors will take us up on our offer to carry them to the Moon and race them to the surface. We’ve been running ads about our rideshare program. You can check out one at the top of http://www.spaceflightnow.com/.
