During the past few weeks there has been a lot of talk about something called Team Summit on facebook, twitter and in several blog posts. The Team Summit takes place once or twice a year and is a chance for all teams to meet and exchange ideas. They are represented by their team leader and his delegate, who get to discuss many different issues. There is always a supporting program with a lot of interesting and important topics. For instance, we have discussions on the protection of the Apollo landing sites and the rules of GLXP, and of course a lot of social ex-change happens, as well. You get to know many teams and their leaders and often new alliances are formed, e.g. to jointly organize public events or share resources.
In the last years we have already had great Team Summits, in the heart of Los Angeles and on the Isle of Man. This year we are going to Mountain View, California from July 11th to 13th. The schedule is full of interesting points, such as a visit to NASA Ames Research Center, and meeting old friends and making new ones is a top priority.
Besides business, there won't be a lack of pleasure, either. We are definitely planning to spend 2, 3 days in San Francisco, and to check out not only the burger joints, but also some museums and the cable cars. I'm very excited about visiting Mountain View and San Francisco! We are also planning a short trip to New York. I'm looking forward to that and I'm enthusiastic to try the original New York cheesecake, which is very famous in Germany.
For the road I have already picked out some appropriate road trip music, for instance Moby's „Extreme Ways“, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' „Californication“ (that's a must!), and Brad Sucks with „Out of It“. I could go on like this forever, since I love music. People who know me well will confirm that I can spend hours sorting music and create „well-crafted“ playlists for all moods. I also packed some albums from certain artists, such as „Skateboard“, „DATA“, and „Daft Punk“. But don't get me wrong here, I also like German and Indie Music, for instance by „Wir sind Helden“ or „Die Ärzte“.
Even though I'm not always gonna have internet access while in the U.S. (sadly my phone doesn't work on their network), I will try to keep you updated. Whenever I get close to a Wi-Fi connec-tion, I'll post an update with some pictures.
