New Sponsor - Solar Made

OMEGA ENVOY LETS THE SUN IN WITH ADDITION OF SOLAR MADE AS SPONSOR

Omega Envoy, the “college team” that is competing in the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP), and the only student formed and led team is proud to announce a sponsorship by Solar Made. Solar Made has provided Omega Envoy with solar cells that will go onto the Florida-based team’s lander and rover. In short, Solar Made is ensuring that Omega Envoy will have all the power it needs for the mission. Earthrise Space Inc (Omega Envoy’s parent organization) will space qualify some of these systems and test them at the Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station (FMARS) located in Devon Island in Canada.

Earthrise Space, Inc. (ESI) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to develop space technology in collaboration with industry and academic institutions. ESI seeks to create the first viable commercial lunar delivery service to support the future’s space transportation infrastructure.

Solar Made specializes in the design and manufacturing of rectangular solar cells for a variety of educational and scientific purposes. The company is based out of Colorado Springs CO and produces solar cells that are perfect for space-based equipment. With the inclusion of Solar Made to ESI’s growing family of sponsors – victory has just become one step closer.

“Having Solar Made as a sponsor for our program is a massive step in completing our objective of landing our rover on the moon and having it successfully complete the requirements of the Google Lunar X-PRIZE,” said Ruben Nunez regarding the inclusion of Solar Made to the growing constellation of sponsors that are working to get Omega Envoy’s rover to the moon.

ESI can provide services to private companies, defense/government agencies, and educational institutions that currently have the resources to explore space and are looking for low cost products that will accomplish their mission requirements. This will enhance the accessibility of technology and increase educational interest amongst the workforce that drives the space industry by increasing its knowledge and understanding what is to be learned through the use of these systems.

Through the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP) and government contracts such as the Innovative Lunar Demonstrations Data (ILDD) Contract from NASA, this initiative will enable the creation of a new economic system to support lunar exploration as well as Technology Readiness Level (TRL) advancement of innovative, commercial space systems.
