EARTHRISE SPACE INC. ANNOUNCES NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS AS NEW SPONSOR
Omega Envoy, a non-profit research laboratory that is competing in the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP) is proud to announce a sponsorship by National Instruments. National Instruments will provide Omega Envoy with data-acquisition technology that will be used to monitor the Florida-based team’s lander and rover.
Earthrise Space, Inc. (ESI) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to develop space technology in collaboration with industry and academic institutions. ESI seeks to create the first viable commercial lunar delivery service to support the future’s space transportation infrastructure.
National Instruments has provided Omega Envoy with their highest quality Data Acquisition Board (DAQ) that will be utilized on the lunar rover. They have also provided Omega Envoy with their Full Development System and modules which include the Robotics Module, the Internet Tool Kit, and the NI Vision Development Module. Amongst other items are digital measurement devices used to capture signals with their software. “We are proud to have National Instruments as our sponsor, as they are the pioneers for data acquisition devices used in industry and academic institutions. The students from Omega Envoy are excited to learn how to use LabVIEW at a professional level while integrating it with our lunar mission,” said Ruben Nunez.
National Instruments transforms the way engineers and scientists around the world design, prototype, and deploy systems for test, control, and embedded design applications. Using NI open graphical programming software and modular hardware, customers at more than 30,000 companies annually simplify development, increase productivity, and dramatically reduce time to market. From testing next-generation gaming systems to creating breakthrough medical devices, NI customers continuously develop innovative technologies that impact millions of people.
ESI can provide services to private companies, defense/government agencies, and educational institutions that currently have the resources to explore space and are looking for low cost products that will accomplish their mission requirements. This will enhance the accessibility of technology and increase educational interest amongst the workforce that drives the space industry by increasing its knowledge and understanding what is to be learned through the use of these systems.
Through the Google Lunar X PRIZE (GLXP) and government contracts such as the Innovative Lunar Demonstrations Data (ILDD) Contract from NASA, this initiative will enable the creation of a new economic system to support lunar exploration as well as Technology Readiness Level (TRL) advancement of innovative, commercial space systems.
