NASA to purchase Omega Envoy Mission data

The Omega Envoy team is extremely proud to announce a very important milestone on our journey to the moon. Earthrise Space, Inc., the non-profit organization running the Omega Envoy project, has been awarded by NASA the Innovative Lunar Demonstration Data contract worth up to 10 million dollars.

"We have come a long way since forming the Omega Envoy team in the Google Lunar X PRIZE, in October of 2008," says Project Director and Founder Ruben Nunez. "This ILDD contract is a testament to the abilities our youth has to turn their dreams into realities.”

With this contract NASA will purchase ESI data on the design, testing, and deployment of the Omega Envoy mission. NASA's hope is to utilize this data in future plans of human moon missions. Part of the contract will allow the Omega Envoy project to further develop their participatory exploration plans. To date the Omega Envoy project has given over twenty university students hands on experience building lunar rovers and landers. Part of the ILDD contract will go towards an increase in student involvement on the project as testing begins on the near flight ready lunar lander prototype.

"Our team has a 'never give up' attitude, which I think has been the foundation for what has got us to where we are today," Omega Envoy Chief Engineer, Jason Dunn, says. "We are competing with some of the brightest most recognized people in the NewSpace industry, true rockstars, and I would be lying if I said we haven't had to fight to remain a real competitor. We are beginning to see our efforts truly pay off, the ILDD contract shows that. We're looking forward to the future!"
