Held this post back for this special day - anniversary of the first manned landing on the moon :)
Overview
Happy to announce in the past quarter we have taken firm steps towards our own mission to the moon - we primarily reaffirmed overall mission plans and strategies, a summary of this was presented at the annual GLXP team summit. We have continued to receive positive support from partners, team mentors and potential investors, we expect to use the upcoming quarter to finalize some of these alliances.
Technology
We completed design considerations for the Rover development and started with Lander design basics. And then we hit our first set of delays, the Rover prototype has been delayed by nearly 2 months, the revised date for delivery now stands end of August.
Competition
I thought we stacked up reasonably well, against the other new teams at the GLXP team summit. The pre-2011 registered teams had important updates to report and we were over-awed to learn some of them had nearly 100 team members, not sure if we could ever reach that team size. Astrobotic's Lander development and MoonEx's advisory panel are pretty impressive. This is going to be as much about sustainability as about technology, we seem to have some of what it will take to stay afloat looking to get more support to see us through the next year or so.
Education & Media
We have been working on an online education outreach campaign to generate more support from school & college students. We intend to host an online competition to promote space / science awareness while rewarding talented participants. The other big media event for us will be the public demonstration of the Rover prototype.
Funding
While we completed the first round of funding which is expected to take us through to the end of the rover prototype, we are now actively looking for the second round to take us through to the Lander prototype. We intend to work closely with ISRO in the coming quarter to better understand the process, costs & associated considerations to get onto their launch manifest.
Sincerely,
Rahul Narayan
