Last week of September several members of the Barcelona Moon Team assisted to the International Astronautical Congress, held in Prague, to present papers, assist to meetings and explore cooperations with other space companies and organizations.
Rafael Harillo, founder and partner of the team legal advisory firm Stardust Consulting, presented the paper ”The Barcelona Moon Team at the GLXP: paving the Spanish LegalPath”, co-authored with Marc Zaballa and Xavier Claramunt. In the paper, the team explores the new private actors of the space arena in Spain and the actual lack of a Spanish space legal framework that regulates their future activities. The BMT wants to promote, together with similar initiatives, the development of such Space legal law to incentive Spain as a future base for private space activities including orbital and suborbital tourism, etc.
Marc Zaballa, team associate leader, was one of the presenters at the Young Professionals Symposium on the Google Lunar X Prize competition. Marc presented the audience with the current status of the team and its mission goals, as well as the industrial, legal, scientific and outreach objectives. Other teams presenting included Frednet, White Label and Team Italia. The session also offered the possibility to know a lot of young enthusiast professionals that will lead the space sector in the future.
Finally the members of the team, including Jorge Fuentes, met several representatives of the space sector industry to discuss launch possibilities and payload cooperation.
An interesting agenda for a five day mission!
