Testing of the Red Rover prototype took place on Saturday and Sunday at Robot City, a former roundhouse used by Carnegie Mellon Robotics for field testing, work space, and storage for various robotics projects. There is also plenty of flat, open space at and around Robot City.

The base of operations
The objective was to test the integrated components on the rover, including the working solar panels and new power systems. However, due to some software bugs that resulted in delays, snow, and overcast skies, the rover was only able to travel about 84m out of the total 500.

Configuring the rover before the test run

At the test course. Red Rover is outfitted with a new, functioning 'head' - its usual head is a non-functioning foam prototype.
There are plans for continued testing at Robot City this weekend.
