More progress in all areas of work

In our initial definitions we already stated some evident áreas of work for the GLXP Project and Team Angelicum Chile, such as:
• Mission Definition:
– Planning
– Orbital Mechanics
– Launching (To obtain national and international alliances)
• Robotics and automation
• Simulation, including the moon environment, SW
• SW
• Telecommunication
• Transmission of Video, Data, Voice, etc.
• Launching, launchers
• Ground Station: Existing Facilities, TT&C
• Legal: contracts, agreements, MOUs, sponsorships.
• Public Relations:: website, blog, Tweeter, Facebook, Youtube, Press, etc
• External Consultancies to each area of work.
• Possible experiments to include in Payloads : Astrobiology (A J. Azúa) and Space Medicine (JL Cárdenas )
• Outreach, educational activities, symposiums, etc.

At the present time, just ending May 2011, we are satisfied with important definitions made and some support reached. Last week the Team Leader met with the Under Secretary of Economy, who is at the same time the President of the Presidential Advisory Commission called Chilean Space Agency and we are expecting very soon the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding.

During May, Team Angelicum Chile met the Director of the International Security and Human Direction of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and we were authorized to integrate the Official Delegation from Chile to the next 54th period of sessions of the Commission for the Peaceful Uses of the Outer Space to be held in the city of Vienna, Austria between the 1st to 10th of June of 2011, in which occasion Angelicum Chile will present our participation in the Google Lunar X Prize competition.

Another important achievement during these last days was our presentations to the University of Concepción, specifically to the students and graduated from the Aerospace Civil Engineering career and the meetings held with the authorities of the Departments of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering, obtaining the important participation and collaboration of the Aerospace Engineering Society and the Professor Nicola Schiacchio, Academic Collaborator of the Aerospace Engineering in the University of Concepcion.

Nicola will be giving us the support in all the matters related with the space mission definition and we will study the feasibility to perform 2 project lines: the first one with the traditional and classic robotic mission and the second one by mean of a series of cubesats.

Finally for this opportunity, we have been obtaining answers from the presidents of the universities belonging to the Public Council of Chilean Universities and accordingly, establishing a schedule of meeting with each of them to visualize which area of work of the project is the most feasible to participate.

From the 25 Universities we already got answer from the following Universities: University of Antofagasta, University of Valparaíso, Catholic University of Valparaíso, University of Santiago of Chile, Pontifice Catholic University of Chile, University of Concepcion and some others are coming.

Keeping in touch
